ECI:
Tim,
I don’t recall hearing much of you until around your sophomore season.
You seemed to have had a breakout season that year and have steadily climbed
into the ranks as one of ECI’s best. What do you attribute to your
recent success and what are your goals for this season?
TS:
"Well
my freshman year I ended up getting hurt for half the season due to no summer
running. When I finally got over my injury and got a chance to run my freshman
year I realized how much better I wanted to be. So going into my sophomore
year I did a lot more summer running and I drastically improved.
ECI:
How
did you get started in running cross country?
TS:
"Well in sixth grade I ran the mile and I
was pretty good at it. So when 7th grade came around my mom signed me
up to run cross country and I didn’t even have a clue what it was. I ended up
really liking it and I just took off from there."
ECI:
Since it is your senior season, have you
thought about whether you would like to run in college? If so, have you
taken a closer look into any schools?
TS:
"I would love to run in college and I plan
on it. I’ve really been checking out IUPUI they have everything that I really
want in a college."
ECI:
What are your feelings about the Franklin Central semi-state that your
team now attends?
TS:
"Well
honestly it’s very fast and competitive. I think it’s a little unfair to put
so many power house teams in one semi-state. There are more than just six teams
at that semi-state that should be at state."
ECI:
How do you like to prepare yourself for big
races?
TS:
"I just like to picture where I should be
during the race, lay around to get rested up, and just talk to the team about
random things."
ECI:
Who
is your idol?
TS:
"Ryan
Hall by far he is an amazing runner and he soon will be the worlds best marathon
runner!!"
ECI:
What is your favorite music to listen to before a race?
TS:
"Well
I like to listen to about everything, but mainly I like to listen to rock like
Led Zeppelin, Guns n Roses stuff like that usually gets me going."
ECI:
What
is your favorite pre-race meal?
TS: "Pancakes that’s where it’s at!! They have the starch you need before your race and they always settle fast."
