Team capsules for each ECI team will be added regularly throughout the early part of this season including the first few meets in the ECI area.

The Union Rockets have some exciting individuals looking forward to the 2020 season. Incoming Freshman Lilly Pierce already made some waves by finishing in the top 6 for her first 2 high school meets, and senior George Barnes has also come out of the gate in 2020 strong. The hope remains that the Rockets will have enough other individuals join these 2 to field a full competitive team for later in the season!

Juniors Nathaniel Kirby and Perrin Belcher were regional qualifiers in 2019 and they will look to build on that success from last year. The team dynamic for the boys is going to take some time to develop as the runners don't have Daniel Wright to look to for leadership this year. Several new runners will look to contribute to the team in 2020.
The girls team will stress quality over quantity this year as there are only five students out for the squad. Lauren Smith and McKenna Minton both advanced to the New Haven Semi-state meet last fall and they will be leading the Blackhawks again this season. The Wapahani boys’ squad returns from a successful campaign last year where they did not have a single senior on the roster. This year however, the Raiders will be heavily reliant on a trio of seniors in Andrew Shrock, Griffen Miller and Joey Dickinson to lead the way for the largest team Wapahani has had in quite some time. Other returning lettermen looking to make a big impact this year are junior Brandon Ellis and sophomores Colton Boggs and Jon Shrock. Along with a rat pack of freshmen looking to get a coveted top 7 spot the Raiders are looking to do some big things in 2020.
The Lady Raiders forward to making a big jump from last year's team. Although they lose two-time semi-state qualifier Lexi Wulff, the Raiders look forward to building a young squad around Sophomore Kendyl Thrasher who was all-county and regional qualifier last year. Juniors Kloee Felton, Katie Mayes and Sophomore Abby Sewell are also looking to be key contributors on a team looking for success this year. New faces to the team that will make a big impact on this year are Freshman Lilly Neal and Sophomore Madaline Felton. The Broncos are gearing up for a great season. With a new head coach and many new runners, this team is looking forward to a brand new season. The Rebels lose a strong group of graduating seniors but welcome to the team some upcoming freshman and returning runners for this season. Leading the team this year is a group of returning Juniors Wyatt Shinn, Olivia Keesling, and Mattie Hale. The team along with new head coach Shinn looks forward to the coming season.

Winchester returns one of the most exciting individuals on the Girl's side with senior Ella Baldwin looking to add to her accolades she has accumulated over the past 3 years. Ara Cowper, Whitney Jester, and Ashley Rees are also returners that are looking to solidify a team that could threaten to break into the ECI Top 5 Teams this season. On the Boy's side, Gage Patterson and Aidan Moystner look to lead the Golden Falcons. Both punched their individual tickets to Regional a year ago.

The Blackford Bruins look to build both Boys and Girls' teams around some younger runners in the area. The Girls team look to rebuild from last year's regional qualifying team with freshmen Allison Clame and Ammee Uggen leading the way. Both debuted in the Blue River Valley Earlybird Invite with two top 15 finishes. The Boys are led by Sophomore Donaven Osborn who placed 3rd in the same invite. The future looks bright for both young teams.

The Jay County Girls team looks to three-peat as regional qualifiers at the Delta Sectionals. The Lady Patriots are led by Sophomore Lydia Keihn who finished her season last year at the New Haven Semi State. On the Boys' side, the Patriots return five out of their top seven from a year ago. They look to build their team around Sophomore Thomas Lemaster who looks forward to taking a big step in his development as a runner this year. The Patriots will be a team to pay attention to in 2020.

While Delta lost two major contributors to their top 5, all of the returning athletes have shown improvement over the summer and the first few weeks of official training. Everyone is healthy and excited to race! They've had a few boys step up and fill in the gaps left from athletes they've lost, and have a big group vying for varsity spots already. The Delta boys are looking to improve their team and individual finishes from last year.
Delta has their top 5 girls returning this season, along with most of their 6th - 10th positions. They've gained a few new faces this year, and add both talent and depth to their team. The whole team has shown an incredible work ethic and they've all steadily improved throughout the training season so far. The girls have set ambitious team and individual goals for the upcoming season, and have put in the work to reach them. Both the Boys and Girls teams at Muncie Burris look to improve on a 2019 season that ended at the Delta Sectional. A year ago the Owls Boys finished 11th, and the Lady Owls finished 8th. The Boys will be led by returners Josh Stevenson, Henry Cooper, and Max Davis. While the Lady Owls, who lost Semi-State Individual Qualifier Emeline Thygerson to graduation, will see team leadership shift to returners Magda Alvis and Karena Wang.

Both Bearcat teams are looking to build off a solid season last year which saw both teams advancing to the regional. There will be a lot of new faces for this year's Bearcats with the teams loaded with underclassmen. The varsity will be led by many of their returning sophomores including Princeton Young, Jonathan Jones, Maya Coggeshall, and Delaney Strange. Though young, this team believes they will make some noise come postseason.

Boys: The Monroe Central Golden Bears captured the IHSAA Sectional Championship for the first time in school history last season. They return 5 of their top 7. They will be led by senior Caden Shumaker, juniors Carter Miller and Tucker Burris, and sophomore Caden Landis. They also welcome incoming freshman Eli Chamberlain and Nathan Daniels. They look to capture the triple crown of winning county, conference, and sectionals.
Girls: The Monroe Central Lady Bears are looking for a great 2020 season as they have seniors Emma Formanek and Claudia Lambert as their leaders of an otherwise very young team. They look to be led by sophomore Karly Puckett, along with three incoming freshmen; Addison Coe, Katie Osborne, and Gracie Baker. The sky is the limit for this young team.
